PRESCHOOL CAMPS
Camp Little Moon
Age 3
Camp offered: Sessions 1- 4
Half and full day options
Half day, 8:30 to 1:00 pm

Location: Summit YMCA
Description: This camp allows first-time campers to experience new adventures through discovery and play. Activities include swim, outdoor play, arts and crafts, group games and special events. Each week brings a different theme and new fun. Please note: all campers must be potty trained and 3 years old by June 1, 2008.
Little Beavers Camp
Ages 4 and 5
Camp offered: Sessions 1 - 4
Half and full day options
Half day, 8:30 to 1:00 pm
Full day, 8:30 to 4:00 pm
Location: Lincoln-Hubbard School
Description: This camp is a great place for younger children to spend the summer. Activities include swim, outdoor play, arts and crafts, group games and special events. Each week offers a different theme and introduces new activities. Please note: all campers must be 4 years old by June 1, 2008.
Discovery Camp
Ages 4 and 5
Camp offered: Sessions 1 – 4
Hours; 8:30 to 4:00 pm
Location Watchung Reservation and Summit YMCA
Description: Campers enjoy summer mornings in the fresh air of the Watchung Reservation and the afternoons at the Summit YMCA. Days are spent playing games, arts, crafts, swimming and exploring nature. Special events and theme days add to the fun. Please note: all campers must be entering Kindergarten in September 2008.
YOUTH CAMPS
Camp Cannundus
Entering grades 1-4 (Ages 6-10)
Camp Offered: Sessions 1 to 4
Hours: 8:30a.m. - 4:00p.m.
Location: Watchung Reservation, Ratio: 1 - 8
Description: Making friends, gaining new skills, understanding more about the natural world, and learning about each other is what Camp Cannundus is all about. Each day is well planned ensuring that safety and fun are emphasized. Programs are active, structured and geared to each child's age group. At this traditional day camp, children enjoy activities such as swimming, environmental education, crafts, arts, sports, games and much more. Each week we will have at least one special event. Special events include all-camp activities, field trips and specialty programs.

Camp Cannundus is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). This Accreditation means that we care enough to undergo a thorough (over 300 health and safety standards) review of its operation – from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. American Camp Association collaborates with experts from The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth service agencies to assure that current practices at camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. Camps and ACA form a partnership that promotes growth and fun in an environment committed to safety.
Endless Summer
Entering grades 1-4 (Ages 6-10)
Camp Offered: Week 9 (August 18 to 22) Hours: 8:30a.m. - 4:00p.m.
Location: Watchung Reservation / Hubbard Gym
Description: For those campers who are still out of school and are looking for a great time, this week is for you. As we close out the summer we will continue to have fun with arts & crafts, swimming, games, sports and special events. This week is a fun and memorable way to finish out a great summer experience.
QUEST
Entering grades 5 – 7 (Ages 10-12)
Camp offered: Sessions 1 to 4
Hours: 8:30 a. m – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Watchung Reservation Ratio: 1 - 10
Description: Quest for something more this summer. Step up from our younger traditional camps with more trips and excitement while maintaining the unique interests and needs of our Quest campers with a summer of exhilarating opportunities. Each week will feature a community service project, special activity, or a group trip throughout the Summit Area. Quest strengthens independence and encourages new challenges this camp encourages you to live life more courageously and genuinely. Activities and trips will be based on weekly themes.

SPORTS CAMPS
All-Sports Camp
“It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about how any games you get to PLAY.”
Minors: Ages 6-8 yrs, entering grades 1-2
Majors: Ages 8-10 yrs, entering grades 3-4
Camp Offered: Sessions 1- 4, Hours: 8:30a.m. – 4:00p.m.
Description: This is a summer camp that is all about playing sports and games. It’s not a fundamental camp; it’s not a competitive camp; it is a sports camp and it’s all about play. Children are grouped by ages and experience a variety of sports play, games and activities, not to mention team and individual development. Camp includes a field trip every Wednesday and recreational swim twice-a-week. All sports camp is based in the “air-conditioned” Hubbard Gymnasium at the Summit YMCA. Camp activities take place both indoors (YMCA gym) and outdoors (nearby park). Character development assets include caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Camp staff incorporates and models character values as well as teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership.
All-About Sports(manship)

Ages 10-13, entering grades 5-8
Camp Offered: Sessions 1- 4, Hours: 8:30 – 4:00
Description: All-About Sports(manship) is a summer camp that focuses on team play. In this camp children will be put onto teams and to compete against one another throughout the session. Teams will earn points as much for winning as for displaying sportsmanship and the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. All-About Sports(manship) will focus on aspects of teambuilding and campers will be taught the core values, teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership in a team environment. All-About Sports(manship) includes a field trip every session which will vary from fun competitive teambuilding excursions to just fun in the sun. All-About Sports(manship) activities will take place in a nearby facility both
indoors and outdoors.

Come explore the world through visual arts and humanities. Discover your ability to understand the world through the art and learn what wonders you can create. Whether you are painting, printmaking, or sculpting prepare to have fun as you discover the artist in you.
Young Artists/Performing Arts
Entering grades 3-6 (ages 9-11)
The young actor and performer in you will have fun discovering the gifts and joy of taking center stage.
You’ll have fun as you dance and perform while learning about the world you live in.
The Producers
Entering grades 7-10 (ages 12-15)
Come join us for an opportunity to produce your own works of art. Whether you are working on producing a scene from Shakespeare, creating a dance sequence or creating your own self -portrait you will learn the power that the arts and humanities have to empower you and help you to grow in self esteem, confidence and a better understanding of the world we live in.
TEENS
COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM (C.I.T.)
Entering Grades 10th and 11th (Ages 14 - 16)
Starts Session 2 only (July 7 to 18)
Location: Watchung Reservation
Fee: $395 for the three-week session
The Counselor-in-Training program is designed to encourage leadership and responsibility in young men and women age 14 – 16 (entering grades 10-11) who are ready to begin the transition from camper to staff member.Our exceptionally talented Counselor in Training (CIT) Director and a capable staff will advise campers, who have finished, 9th grade, in the development of their own schedules. Group discussions, allowing each camper to express his or her concerns and feelings about being a teenager, will also be conducted by our qualified and sensitive staff. The combination of these programs is designed to give our teenagers more responsibility and choices, while at the same time prepare them for a job as a Junior Counselor.
The goal of the program then becomes a chance for us to encourage self-confidence learn leadership skills, listen, problem solve challenge, reward, educate and be a positive role model for others. Additional training sessions include team building, communication skills, child development, risk management and behavior management training.
Once a Camper becomes a CIT, he or she will work with different counselors throughout the camps, developing a greater sense of responsibility and learning the essence of caring for others through observation and hands-on involvement. CIT’s who successfully complete the program will be formally recognized, complete with an award and letter of recommendation.
To be accepted in the program, complete the necessary camp registration form and return it with the required $75 deposit. Teens will be then called for an interview when all the necessary paperwork has been turned in. Extended Camp
Convenient Hours for All Camps
Our typical camp day camps run from 8:30am to 4:00pm, with the ability to enroll your child in one or both of our convenient options.
Option #1 Pre-Camp Hours: 7:30am-8:30am or until camp starts
Option #2 Post-Camp Hours: 4:00pm-6:00pm
*A Late Fee of $2.00 per minute will be charged for each additional minute past 6:00pm
Caring Staff
We carefully select counselors that have a genuine interest in children, enjoy being with children, and have the ability to interact in a positive and caring way with your child. All of our counselors have certification in First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. They receive training in YMCA leadership skills, safety and emergency procedures, and the principles of healthy child development. All staff members and volunteers go through criminal background and drug tests prior to the start of camp.
Financial Assistance
Everyone belongs at the Y, regardless of their financial circumstances — no one is turned away. For those families and individuals unable to afford the Y’s camp fees, we offer a Financial Assistance Program to help cover the cost.

Registration is in person at the Summit YMCA, 67 Maple Street, 908-273-3330
Complete the registration form in full, one form for each child attending camp.
Enclose a check for $75.00 deposit for each session child (ren) are attending.
Y Family or Youth membership must be active at time of camp registration.
Make check payable to Summit YMCA .
All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Balance of camp fees are due per following schedule:
Session 1 and 2 ( June 23 to July 18), balance due May 15, 2008.
Session 3 and 4 and week 9 (July 21 to August 22), balance due June 15, 2008.
A $50.00 late fee per session will be charged for all late payments.
Camp Fee Discounts Available:
$200 off per child for enrollement in 4 sessions
$100 off per child for enrollment in 3 sessions
$50 off per child for enrollment in 2 sessions
