Early Education

Infant Care: 6 weeks - 12 months of age

This program provides early sensory stimulation, which promotes learning and development. Our program for this level consists of self-initiated activity in a stable, stimulating environment that is rich in child oriented materials and experiences. All areas of development are considered important to the well being of the child’s development. There is a balance of large and small motor activities, as well as social, language, sensory, and self-help skill development on a daily basis.

The children in this program are fed when hungry and diapered when wet, gradually aging into developmentally appropriate routines. Play is supervised in a responsive manner allowing children to demonstrate their curiosity and initiative in the use of play materials.

Waddlers: 9 months - 18 months of age

In this program children are provided with an environment where they are able to grow and develop through exploration and communication. They are supervised in such a way as to allow the children to explore their curiosity and to develop appropriately. These children are fed when hungry and diapered when wet in an effort to help the child build into a routine.

Waddlers learn best through their independent explorations and interactions with their caregivers, who can promote their learning by initiating activities based on the children’s behaviors and interests. Our program must meet all the children’s needs and encourage their continuing development. This program provides a consistent pattern of meeting individual needs through caring people, and a balance between familiar, predictable routines and new experiences.

Toddlers: 18 months - 3 years

This program is rich in language and sensory experiences. Toddlers can be gathered together in small groups for short periods of times, which allows for full participation of each child. Children have the opportunity to develop at their own pace. Activities are done to suit each child with consideration to that child’s developmental level. The children are encouraged and supported to undertake activities as they become developmentally ready. Play is self-directed as well as teacher directed to allow children to make their own choices and develop accordingly.

Preschool/Pre-K: 3 - 5 years

The Preschool/Pre-K classrooms include distinct interest areas, which provide the children with ample opportunities to use manipulatives, table toys, books, computers, dramatic play, music/movement, cooking, art, and science and nature. Children have the opportunity to choose these materials and contribute to their daily program. Teachers create awareness and foster interest in children by planning the environment, introducing new and stimulating objects, people and experiences. These activities are both age and individually appropriate.
