Runners of all ages are invited to participate in the second annual Mother's Day 5K run to benefit the Berkeley Heights YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign.
The run, scheduled for May 9 at Memorial Park in Berkeley Heights, will take place at 9:00 a.m. Registration takes place from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. T-shirts, prizes and refreshments will be supplied by the Y.
The course will start and finish behind Memorial Park. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers and to the winners in each age division: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over. This is a USATF sanctioned event and the course a certified 5K course. Best Racing Systems will be the timing company for the event. Both the Berkeley Heights Police department and volunteers from Berkeley Heights/Summit/Springfield YMCA will be helping out with the event.
Proceeds from the event go to the YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign, which raises money to provide financial assistance so community children and their families can afford to participate in Y classes and programs.
The fee for the race is $16.00 per runner before April 30 and $20.00 thereafter. Registration can be done by phone (908) 464-8373 or in-person at the Berkeley Heights YMCA, 550 Springfield Ave. You may also register online at www.bestrace.com or www.active.com. For information on Title Sponsorship or to volunteer at the event call (908)790-9328.
